Welcome to Progress Elementary!

Progress is truly and amazing place built on the foundation of a professional, knowledgeable, and caring staff. At Progress we strive to serve the needs of our students and families so that all may find success in their journey through school and life beyond their Central Valley experience.

Our staff’s responsibility is to provide the very best educational experiences possible for your child. At Progress, students access the curriculum and standards by using 21st Century skills to engage in inquiry-based learning and explorations.

We are a community dedicated to nurturing and guiding students' curiosity. Through inquiry-based learning we encourage students to develop deep and real questions by inquiring and investigating curricular topics as well as what draws their interest. We believe when curiosity is engaged, students are inclined to learn from each other and for themselves using a multitude of resources and 21st-century skills. We value Community, Choice, Curiosity, Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity.

Inquiry-Based Learning
Inquiry is a recursive student-centered process in which we nurture students’ curiosity by encouraging them to develop deep and real questions around curricular and high interest topics as well as current events. Students are given the opportunity to explore, investigate, and research their questions. Then students build knowledge by discovering answers and synthesizing the information they learn. Eventually students will share their learning and demonstrate understanding through various projects.

Explorations
This is a time when students choose a topic they’d like to investigate and explore in greater depth. They have the opportunity to move to other classrooms and work with other teachers and peers who are investigating the same topic.
